RINCON, GA – The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (ECIDA) is proud to announce that Sewon America, a subsidiary of Korean-based Sewon Precision Industry Co., is expanding its manufacturing operations in Rincon. The $50 million project will add 98,250 square feet to the facility, create 100 new jobs, and introduce new capabilities—marking the first expansion by a Hyundai supplier since the launch of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in late 2024.
“Sewon America’s expansion is a full-circle moment and incredible milestone for the Metaplant’s supplier network,” said Misti Martin, Deputy Commissioner of Global Commerce at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Georgia values long-lasting partnerships and seeks partners who share that commitment. We look forward to the additional opportunities this expansion will create for Effingham County.”
“From the moment Sewon America chose Effingham County for its second U.S. facility, we knew this partnership would be long-lasting,” said Matt Saxon, Chairman of the ECIDA. “This expansion underscores their confidence in our community, our workforce, and the strong business climate we’ve built together. We’re proud to see them grow and create even more opportunities for local residents.”
Local leaders emphasized the impact of this investment on Rincon and the surrounding region.
“We are excited about the opportunity for more quality jobs in our community,” said Rincon Mayor Kevin Exley. “The City of Rincon looks forward to partnering with Sewon to ensure our local citizens can take advantage of these much-anticipated positions.”
“This expansion will allow Sewon America to better serve our customers and add new capabilities to our operations,” said Robert Vazquez, Director of Human Resources at Sewon America. “We’re excited to grow alongside our community, create new job opportunities, and continue investing in our talented workforce here in Effingham County.”
Sewon America operates one of the largest automobile body parts manufacturing plants in North America. The company opened its first Georgia facility in LaGrange in 2008, which has since doubled in size, and began operations in Rincon in 2025. With the expansion, Sewon will continue to supply electric vehicle (EV) body parts for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America.
The project was supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the City of Rincon, and the Effingham County Board of Commissioners.
