Diamond Concrete Brings 100+ Industry Professionals to Effingham County for National Concrete Pipe Week

RINCON, GA - More than 100 engineers, contractors and industry professionals gathered at Diamond Concrete Products last week for this year’s National Concrete Pipe Week, giving the longtime Effingham County company an opportunity to showcase both its growing regional presence and the expertise behind the products it manufactures.

The event comes as Diamond Concrete continues to expand its role in Southeast Georgia’s growing industrial and infrastructure landscape. Since adding a second manufacturing line at its Rincon operation in 2023, the company has supplied concrete pipe for major projects throughout the region, including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America and other industrial and infrastructure developments.

That growth is particularly meaningful for a company with deep roots in Effingham County. General Manager Devin Zipperer’s family has lived in the county since 1752, and he represents the 11th generation of his family to call the area home.

“Our business has always been built on relationships, trust, quality and service,” said Zipperer. “If you do what you say you’re going to do and stand behind what you’re selling, people trust you. I think that’s what has gotten us where we are today.”

As Effingham County and the surrounding region continue to change, Zipperer sees an opportunity for Diamond Concrete to grow alongside it while maintaining those same principles.

“Diamond Concrete is a great example of an existing Effingham County industry continuing to invest in its people, its industry and its community,” said Effingham County Industrial Development Authority Chairman Matt Saxon. “We’re proud to see the response to this year’s National Concrete Pipe Week programming and congratulate Devin and the entire Diamond Concrete team on a successful event.”

As part of the week’s activities, Diamond Concrete hosted P.I.P.E. training developed by the American Concrete Pipe Association, offering participating engineers six Professional Development Hours. The training followed concrete pipe from production through installation and covered manufacturing, trench excavation, installation requirements and post-installation inspection.

Participants also toured Diamond Concrete’s Rincon facility to see firsthand how its products are manufactured to meet industry standards.

“Engineers, municipalities and the construction professionals who put the pipe in the ground were all able to participate in the class together,” said Zipperer. “It gave everyone an opportunity to communicate and share their perspectives in a way they may not normally get to do.”

“Wednesday, September 23, the GCPA supported one of the preeminent Reinforced Concrete Pipe manufacturers in Georgia hosting an open house, plant tours, and classroom training,” said Georgia Concrete Pipe Association Executive Director Cecil Connor. “Attendees learned the why and how’s of engineering and installation requirements needed to ensure our stormwater systems are built for today’s extreme weather events and designed to last 100+ years.”

For professional engineers in Georgia, who are required to earn 15 Professional Development Hours annually, the six-credit program also provided a significant continuing-education opportunity.

The Georgia Concrete Pipe Association serves as the voice for the reinforced concrete pipe and precast box culvert industries in Georgia and works to increase awareness of proper design, installation and inspection practices for modern stormwater infrastructure.

National Concrete Pipe Week is an annual initiative of the American Concrete Pipe Association highlighting the role reinforced concrete pipe—and the companies that manufacture it—play in communities across the country. In Georgia, the occasion is also recognized annually through a gubernatorial proclamation.
