RINCON, GA – The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (ECIDA), in partnership with WorkSource Coastal successfully hosted the second annual Effingham Employment Expo on Tuesday, June 10th at Rincon Elementary School. The event connected over 100 jobseekers with career opportunities at some of Effingham County’s leading industrial employers.
Nine companies participated in the expo, with several conducting onsite interviews for immediate hiring needs. Participating employers included Aertssen Logistics, AeroDynamic Aviation, Edwards Interiors, Georgia-Pacific, Lineage Logistics, Lowe’s/Penske, Perdue, and Sewon America.
More than 70% of attendees were residents of Effingham County, 55% were currently unemployed, and 10% were U.S. military veterans—demonstrating the expo’s role in reaching key segments of the local workforce and helping connect them to in-demand career paths.
“This event was created to connect our community’s talented workforce with the growing number of job opportunities in Effingham County,” said Jessica Hood, Vice President of the ECIDA. “We’re proud to see employers engaging directly with residents and investing in local talent.”
Doug Howell, Director of Human Resources for Penske Logistics, shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity. “We’re eager to connect with the local workforce and build stronger name recognition in the Effingham community,” said Howell. “This event was a great way for us to meet potential candidates and demonstrate our long-term commitment to the region.”
WorkSource Coastal was on site providing resume assistance and career readiness support. Attendees who completed a post-event survey received meal vouchers for the onsite food truck, Flaco’s Tacos. Local radio station BOB 106.9 also broadcast live from the event, helping to promote the expo and boost community visibility.
The ECIDA extends its sincere thanks to all participating employers and to the partners who made the event possible: WorkSource Coastal, RISE, and Rincon Elementary School. Their support was instrumental in creating a successful and community-centered event.
